Data Analyisis of the Green Roof: We have 3 roofs that we did our tests on. We have the green roof, the dirt roof, and a tin roof. We conducted 3 tests on each house. We put ice on the houses and collectd the water. Then we blew wind at it. Finally we warmed the houses to 85 degrees and put it out in the cold to test the tempature every 5 minutes. The green roof collected and used the water that we put on it. Only alittle of that water came out. In the wind test it lost only a tiny bit bit of dirt and the plants still remained. Over 10 minutes in the tempurature test it lost 5 degrees per minute. The dirt roof collected all the water. In the wind test it lost a lot of dirt. In the temperature test it proved that the dirt didn't help that much and lost about 7 degrees per minute. Finally the tin roof did not collect any water. It stood up to wind very well and only the coner wrinkled up alittle bit. It lost about 6 degrees per minute. This shows that the green roof worked really well. It lost the least amount of water, it collected and ussed most of the water and stood up pretty well up to wind and so did the tin roof.

Segio and I have the materials and will start building the buildings on friday. We have finished one of the three houses. The house that we made has no dirt or plants on it. It is simply representing the normal roof with three layers of tin foil on the top. We will complete the other two houses on friday through Saturday. If we are done on Saturday we will start the experiment on that day, if not then we will start it on Sunday. The second house we are going to make will have dirt and plants that are yet to be decided (sedum is out of season). For the third house we will just have dirt on the roof so we know if the dirt is helping much.

Procedure
1. Get materials
2. Build houses using materials exept roof
3. create wall around boxes out of lego
4. Build roof in a time where the plants can grow
5. Warm up house and take it outside
6. Test the tmp over time
7. put house on a slope
8. Pour water over the house
9. see whitch one has the most water at the bottom
10. Blow it with fan to see whitch one is best against wind
11. collect data

Hypothesis: Hayden- I think that the living roof will absorb more water, keep it's heat longer but will not stand up to disasters very well.
Sergio- I think that a regular roof will be better than a living roof. I think that a regular roof is more sturdy, safe, and could protect us for some of the worlds natural disasters.

Introduction: There are many types of roofs. There are slate roofs and cement roofs. For our exit project in 8th grade we are seeing if a living roof is more efficient than a regular roof. A living roof is a roof that has plants such as wild flowers and or moss. These roofs absorb harmful chemicals such as carbon monoxide and purifies them and the surrounding air. In the summer it absorbs up to 5% of the heat that really keeps you cool. In the winter it insulates you from the cold very well. It lasts twice as long and when it brakes it does not cost nearly as much.
